About

Hi! I’m Michael Madsen, MS, LMFT

As a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), I’ve completed advanced training in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy, trauma-informed care (TF-CBT and EMDR), and motivational interviewing techniques, all of which guide my work.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist passionate about helping individuals and couples live better, more fulfilling lives.

My approach? I combine faith in Jesus Christ with evidence-based methods and a sprinkle of what I’ve been told is “obnoxious optimism,” which forms a contagious enthusiasm for growth and motivation.

My journey started as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where I saw great people struggling with addiction who needed more than just the spiritual help I was offering and not knowing what to do.

After completing my mission, I knew I had found my calling. So, I pursued the knowledge that I was missing; I have degrees in Psychology from Snow College and Utah State University and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

I’ve seen how past experiences can hold people back, and I’m committed to helping everyone overcome those barriers. By keeping grounded in a trauma-informed, systematic approach to problem-solving, I’ve seen the changes in people’s lives I hoped to see while on my mission.

I love engaging with my community. I’m working on creating accessible educational programs, like 30-minute “Anxiety Lunch Breaks,” to provide quick and practical tools for managing stress. My beautiful wife and I have six kids, so trust me when I say I get that life can be hectic. To help maintain a feeling of balance, I coach kids’ soccer at the YMCA and enjoy book clubs and game nights.

Let me help you thrive!

Enduring Healing FAQs

What is principle-based recovery?

A principle-based recovery program integrates spiritual principles with traditional addiction treatment strategies to support healing of the mind, body, and spirit.

Do I have to be religious to join a faith-based program?

No! While the program emphasizes spiritual growth and often references God, it welcomes individuals at any point in their journey, including those with doubts or who are unsure about their beliefs.

What if I’ve lost my faith or feel unworthy?

Many in recovery feel distant from God. Faith-based programs often address these feelings directly, helping participants rebuild their spiritual identity and recognize their inherent worth.

Will I be judged or shamed for my past?

No, Enduring Healing’s principle-based recovery emphasizes grace, compassion, and healing. Judgment is actively discouraged; In fact, most participants and leaders have firsthand experience with brokenness and redemption.

Does faith-based recovery actually work?

Absolutely! While success rates depend on individual commitment and context, many report more profound personal change when faith is integrated into recovery.
